Overview

Afterlight is a concert diary app that helps you log and track your live music experiences. Your core diary lives on your device; no account is required for logging, scanning, stats, or export.

Data Storage

When you use Afterlight:

  • Concert logs (artist, venue, date, ratings, reflections) are stored only on your device
  • Photos you attach are copied into the app's private storage on your device
  • Deleting the app deletes this data; your device backup (e.g. iCloud) may include it
  • If you join Friends, a username and a limited mirror of non-private diary entries are stored so people you follow can see your nights

Private entries never leave your device.

Third-Party Services

Some features send limited data to external services:

  • Setlist.fm — artist/venue/date search queries, to find shows and setlists
  • OpenAI — ticket/poster photos you choose to scan, processed for text extraction only
  • Convex — optional Friends usernames, follows, reports, blocks, and non-private mirrored diary entries
  • Analytics (if enabled in a build) — anonymous usage events to improve the app

We do not sell your data to third parties.

Data Retention

  • Your concert logs stay on your device until you delete them
  • Friends data can be deleted in-app from Profile by leaving Friends
  • You can export your data (JSON/CSV) at any time from Profile
  • Deleting the app removes all locally stored data

Your Rights

  • Access — view all your data in the app
  • Export — download your concert history
  • Deletion — remove entries individually, delete your Friends account, or delete the app
  • Portability — your data is yours
