Overview
Afterlight is a concert diary app that helps you log and track your live music experiences. Your core diary lives on your device; no account is required for logging, scanning, stats, or export.
Data Storage
When you use Afterlight:
- Concert logs (artist, venue, date, ratings, reflections) are stored only on your device
- Photos you attach are copied into the app's private storage on your device
- Deleting the app deletes this data; your device backup (e.g. iCloud) may include it
- If you join Friends, a username and a limited mirror of non-private diary entries are stored so people you follow can see your nights
Private entries never leave your device.
Third-Party Services
Some features send limited data to external services:
- Setlist.fm — artist/venue/date search queries, to find shows and setlists
- OpenAI — ticket/poster photos you choose to scan, processed for text extraction only
- Convex — optional Friends usernames, follows, reports, blocks, and non-private mirrored diary entries
- Analytics (if enabled in a build) — anonymous usage events to improve the app
We do not sell your data to third parties.
Data Retention
- Your concert logs stay on your device until you delete them
- Friends data can be deleted in-app from Profile by leaving Friends
- You can export your data (JSON/CSV) at any time from Profile
- Deleting the app removes all locally stored data
Your Rights
- Access — view all your data in the app
- Export — download your concert history
- Deletion — remove entries individually, delete your Friends account, or delete the app
- Portability — your data is yours
